Our Pole Barn Pad Preparation Process
1. Site Clearing & Topsoil Removal
We strip vegetation, roots, brush, and the organic topsoil layer from the entire pad footprint plus a 2–4 ft perimeter. Topsoil is unstable and will settle under a pole barn — it has to come off, every time. Material is stockpiled on-site or hauled away depending on your preference.
2. Rough Grading & Cut/Fill
Using excavators and skid steers, we cut into high spots and build up low spots to establish the proper sub-grade elevation. We aim for a slight crown or pitch so surface water naturally moves away from the future structure — critical on Hendricks County clay sites.
3. Compaction of the Sub-Grade
